Role Description

This listing is for a part-time Seasonal Tour Coordinator in Boston, MA. You will be responsible for our company’s on-the-ground operations at Boston Flynn Cruiseport on days we provide shore excursion group tours. Main responsibilities include coordinating our tour guides, tour busses, and cruise guests, while acting as dispatch throughout the day to coordinate any issues as they come up in real-time. You will need to be organized and quick-thinking, able to give directions clearly to visitors arriving on cruise ships, while ensuring that each tour guest is checked in properly, and making certain our tour guides are aware of their bus and tour route assignments that day. This will include

  • Coordinating with the ship’s Shore Excursion manager to receive passenger manifests and any special needs for the day

  • Checking-in tour guests by verifying tour tickets and verifying total group counts

  • Responding to and managing delays and emergencies reported by tour guides throughout the tour

  • Coordinating with the ship’s Shore Excursion manager of any delays or emergencies during the tours

  • Ensuring each group has the necessary equipment for their tour

  • Verifying form submissions from tour guides at the end of the tour

  • Coordinating with the ship’s Shore Excursion manager when a tour is complete and all guests have returned to ship

Shifts will generally be “spiky,” where there will be a very busy hour or two, followed by a quiet hour or two. Exact dates and hours will be pre-defined and are currently being finalized. The majority of them are in September and October, when you can expect an average of 4 days a week. As our company expands, there may be room for growth into a broader, more regular role.

This role requires basic knowledge about Boston, but does not involve leading tours or tour-level knowledge.

The role requires being on-site at the Flynn Cruiseport for the duration of your shift. Start and end times vary by day based on tour schedule.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor

  • Ability to listen carefully and give directions clearly when there is a lot going on

  • Ability to keep a timely schedule, and adapt quickly if something affects the schedule

  • Ability to work irregular hours. Exact schedules will be determined several weeks ahead of time, but shifts may start as early as 6:30 or as late as 2:00, may be anywhere from 3-8 hours, and may occur on weekends and holidays.

  • Native or near-native English speaking skills

  • Able to pass a background check for a TWIC badge

  • 18+

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of other languages is a plus. Preference for Spanish, German, Russian, French, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin

  • Previous experience in hospitality, or customer service preferred but not required

Compensation

  • Salary is $20/hour
